When my lifelong dream shattered around me, I was devastated. Little did I know the door that it would open would lead to finding my true purpose.
For most of my life my dream was to open my own restaurant. After well over a decade in the hospitality industry, that dream started to become reality. Finally, I had the chance to open a restaurant and to feature fabulous dishes from the coasts of the Mediterranean Sea. My team and I were finalizing menus, perfecting delicious dishes I had created and training the staff to execute our beautiful food. The grand opening was in sight when everything came crashing down.
I had spent over a year laboring on the restaurant while working the lunch shift at a deli and the dinner shift at a steakhouse in order to make ends meet. The schedule was grueling and I often worked 16 hour days, with seldom a day off. I didn’t mind though because it was a labor of love and seeing everything take shape just gave me more and more enthusiasm to persevere.
When things fell through, I was devastated. It was something I never saw coming. I had relied on partners and each of us had different roles. Little did I know that things on the other end were not being handled and mistakes kept piling up. Eventually the mistakes led to us losing everything and there was nothing that I could do to stop it.
In the aftermath, I was heartbroken and unsure of what would be my next move. I continued working as I had before and wondering what was in store for my future. Each day I wallowed in despair over the dream I’d lost. On one of those dark days, my father came to see me and suggested I stop chasing my dream, and instead start building a life for myself. He suggested I become a REALTOR®
I had been in the hospitality industry my whole working life; it was all I knew. I loved it and couldn’t imagine myself doing anything else. Still, I decided to give something new a try and I jumped headfirst into real estate. I was so pleased to find out that this new endeavor fit me even better than I could have dreamed.
I am a third generation REALTOR® and grew up around conversations about houses, mortgages and real estate investments. While pursuing my license, I realized that real estate is actually another hospitality industry. The focus is on serving others and helping people. After completing real estate school in 2008 I earned my REALTOR® license.
Even though the door closed on my dream of opening a restaurant, another door had opened. I have never been one to follow the herd. I like to think outside the box and stay a step ahead. I believe that the path less traveled, can have the best result waiting for you at the end.
I love what I do every day as a REALTOR®, helping people navigate what is often the biggest financial decision of their lives. I take pride in owning my own business, The Marcus Team. Our clients get the benefit of the family approach. I still love cooking, especially for my loved ones, but now I only do it for pleasure rather than my livelihood. In 2007, I came to Denver for the summer and never left. This is my home. I enjoy all Denver has to offer from live music to the many outdoor activities. I’ve found my place here, and I’d love to help you find yours too.
Buying a home is a stressful experience that can be overwhelming, and a lot of complications can arise. I know what it’s like to have the rug yanked out from under you and how to regain your footing afterwards. My 18+ years of experience in the hospitality industry have given me the skills to balance many moving parts at once, and stay ahead of possible pitfalls. I am constantly evolving, always learning and seeking ways to be even better at my craft. I work faster, smarter, and harder for my clients than most. But above all, it’s all about my clients. In my 12 years as a REALTOR® I have seen a world of change in the market that has prepared me for any scenario. This experience means I am equipped to show you all your options to make the best decision for you and your family, not just now but in the long run. Once the transaction is over, the relationship has just begun.
With gratitude,
Yaron Marcus
